Moldavite is one of the most precious and rare gem crystals. It is a meteoric debris crystal, the product of a meteor collision with the Earth some 15 million years ago. It fell in an area covering some 500 square kilometers of the Moldau River Valley in the Czech Republic. Moldavite is one of the most rare minerals. It has been prized for thousands of years and has long been the gift often chosen by European royalty as personal gifts for their relatives. Moldavite is believed by many to have been the green stone in the Holy Grail, and at least one legend has the Grail carved entirely from moldavite.
